The High Street still rules!

With internet fraud having doubled in 2008, personal security was high on the list of concerns. The risks of inputting credit card details have greatly increased which has meant more people are coming back to the High Street.

Other reasons for people choosing the High Street over the internet included the touch, try and feel factor; personal service and advice; instant delivery and socialising.

Peter Hardingham, Centre Manager at The Octagon Shopping Centre commented: "When online shopping really took off over 10 years ago it was predicted that shops would disappear, but this hasn't been the case. I don't think it can be said that online shopping is better than hitting the high street, and vice versa. There are of course pros and cons for each but keeping personal details safe is obviously a top priority for a lot of people."
