Spring Clean for Horninglow's Saints

The LEAP (Local Environment Action Plan) partners will be in the Saints area of the ward on Tuesday, May 27th tackling problems of anti-social behaviour by deep cleaning streets, litter picking, removing untaxed and abandoned vehicles and handing our fixed penalty notices for dropping litter and dog fouling.

Among the authorities present on the day will be Community Wardens, waste collectors and street cleaners from East Staffordshire Borough Council, Heart of Burton, the Staffordshire County Council Highways Authority, Staffordshire Police, Neighbourhood Watch, the Fire and Rescue Service, Trent and Dove Housing Association and ABB the street lighting company.

"This is a wonderful example of services from across the county coming together to help improve the environment our residents live, work and play in," said Councillor Malcolm Barrett, Deputy Leader for Environment at East Staffordshire Borough Council.

"Our previous LEAP day was in Eton in February and was welcomed by residents and we aim to make as many improvements in the Horninglow ward so we are looking to the local residents to help us really make a difference in their neighbourhood."

LEAP is an initiative organised through the East Staffordshire Borough Council Community Safety Partnership, which includes members from the police, fire and rescue, Primary Care Trust, Trent & Dove Housing, the County Council and East Staffordshire Borough Council.
The aim of the initiatives to improve the quality of the local environment, reduce anti-social behaviour and reduce environmental degradation and crimes.

Paul Cullen, spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are committed to any project which helps to make the communities of East Staffordshire a safer, cleaner place to live. The LEAP Project does exactly that and we are delighted to be a part of it."

Sgt David Harris from Staffordshire Police added: "Staffordshire Police are fully committed to the LEAP projects, it has such a positive effect on the lives of people within the community and increases the Trust and Confidence aspect of Partnership working for the benefit of everyone involved."

David Jones, Director of Housing at Trent and Dove, said: "At Trent & Dove, we see the LEAP initiatives as an important opportunity to join with our community partners to address a wide range of neighbourhood issues. In previous campaigns residents have had the opportunity to raise many concerns and issues with our staff and they have been able to see action taken in response. The success of the LEAP days has given residents the reassurance that Trent & Dove is actively working with its partners in the community to help transform neighbourhoods, making them good places in which to live."
