New Lord Mayor
"Being Mayor of East Staffordshire is an exciting opportunity for me to meet people, help raise the profile of my chosen charities and to help others raise funds," said Councillor Staples.
"I would welcome the opportunity to meet with as many young people's organisations as I can during my year in office."
Councillor Staples takes over the role from Councillor Cedric Insley, Ward member for Brizlincote, who has held the post for the last 12 months.
During her tenure as Mayor, Councillor Staples will also be holding a number of charity fundraising events for her chosen charities - Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Harvey Girls and Home Start East Staffordshire.
Councillor Geoff Morrison, member for Uttoxeter's Heath Ward, will be the Deputy Mayor to Councillor Staples.
