Children Star in Fame Factory Show

Held at Burton College's Lichfield Street campus, the performance was organised as part of a new Summer School designed to explore a wide variety of dance and performance techniques.

Open to anyone over the age of seven, the Fame Factory school covered various dance techniques from jazz, ballet and tap to contemporary, cheerleading and street dance. In addition, skills such as musical theatre, stage acting and singing were taught.

Lecturer Kevin Sutton commented, "This was an exciting venture for the College which provided local children of all ages with an introduction to a very broad range of dance techniques. In addition, developments that are currently taking place in the dance and theatre industries has increased the demand for performers who can combine dance and dramatic skills so the course also covered a variety of other elements such as musical theatre and mime. The school has been very popular and the show was the perfect opportunity for the children to demonstrate just what they had learnt over the week. The success means that we will hopefully be running another school next year."

Burton College's Faculty of Creative Studies runs a wide range of courses for those people interested in pursuing a career in Dance or Performing Arts. To find out more call 01283 494400 or log on to the website at www.burton-college.ac.uk
