Lions Club Boost for Air Ambulance
Members of the Ashbourne and District Lions Club recently paid a visit to the Midlands Air Ambulance base at Tatenhill Airfield near Burton on Trent to present a cheque for £1000.
Club members raised the impressive sum of money throughout 2008 by hosting various events with the proceeds divided between the Midlands Air Ambulance and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
Speaking about the donation to the Air Ambulance service, Ashbourne Lions President, Martin Spencer said:
"Members of Ashbourne and District Lions Club are delighted to have raised this fantastic sum of money for the Air Ambulance service, which serves the local community."
Speaking about the contribution from the Lions Club, Midlands Air Ambulance area fundraising manager, Helen Hitchman said:
"I would like to thank members of the Ashbourne Lions Club for their very generous contribution to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity."
The Charity receives no government, NHS or lottery funding and requires £5.6 million each year to ensure the life saving helicopter service continues to fly across the region.
