Kids Summer Sports Courses

With the Olympics starting this week Shobnall Leisure Complex is organising its own athletics spectacular with three days of STARTRACK Athletics from August 13th to 15th.

The event includes a visit from two British Sporting Champions - Sara McGreavy and James Hillier -who will bring their medals and give an insight into International sport, give coaching sessions in their speciality Athletics event.

Children will then get the chance to try out the event and compete in a variety of the three athletics events of running, jumping and throwing.

There are also single-day athletics courses on August 20th and 27th and to celebrate the handing over of the Olympic touch on Sunday, August 24th, Shobnall will be offering free casual use of the tennis courts, Crazy Golf, Pitch and Putt Golf and athletics track. Meadowside and Uttoxeter Leisure Centres will also be offering free junior swimming subject to availability and terms of use.

Budding Beckhams can enjoy either a Soccer day on August 11th or a three-day soccer school from August 18th to 20th. Or on August 27th and 28th there will be the Soccer Stars Award - a nationally recognised award for soccer skills, finished off with fun games and competitions.

For the next Andy Murray of Burton we have tennis courses on August 11th and 26th offering 90 minutes of tennis skills and fun games to improve your play.

The Great British hockey team fly out to Beijing this week - if you want to learn more about the sport then why not join our hockey days on August 8th, 11th and 21st.

Alternatively if you want to be the next England Cricket Captain then our cricket days are running on August 7th (Advanced Cricket day), August 21st, and August 26th and fun games of Kwik cricket on August 22th.

If Netball is your game then netball days are running on August 28th so come down and play fun games and practice your skills.

Badminton courses will run on August 13th and 26th or there is a two-day sessions on August 21st and 22nd, and Rounders fun sessions will be running on August 11th, 22nd and 27th.

If you are more of an all-rounder and would like to try your hand a various sports then Shobnall are running Net Games days on August 6th and 22nd where you can try your hand at any sport using a net - like basketball, badminton, netball, tennis, volleyball etc.

Another day to try out new sports is Multi Sports - taster sessions at various sports - short sessions of hockey, soccer, tennis, basketball, rounders and kwik cricket etc.

If you're not particularly sporty then Outdoor Adventure may be your day on August 12th, 19th and 26th, where we will have visits from the park rangers ranging from bug hunts to natures paint pallet sessions.

For the more artistic amongst us T-shirt Painting is running on August 15th where children can do the design and transfer onto a t-shirt to take home.

And finally for the next Tiger Woods or Justin Rose you may want to take part in the golf sessions running on August 15th, 19th and 29th - or just have a go at the Pitch and Put and Crazy golf, available throughout the week.
