Bra Vo!
This is not the result of a strange fetish that the shopping centre has developed, but part of a year long charity bra collection campaign to raise much needed funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is the UK's leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education.
At the end of the campaign, bras will be weighed and £1 per kilo will be donated to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. All bras will then be exported to third world buyers to create viable overseas businesses enabling individuals to support their families.
"I know what a strong and caring community Burton is," commented Peter Hardingham, Centre Manager at The Octagon Shopping Centre. "I'm sure that during the campaign we can pull together and ensure that Breakthrough Breast Cancer receives great support for the wonderful work that they do."
The campaign will be launched in The Octagon Shopping Centre by the Mayor, Councillor Liz Staples JP, Peter Hardingham and a representative from Breakthrough Breast Cancer on Friday 6th February at 3.00pm.
The bright pink bra bank will be available in The Octagon Shopping Centre throughout 2009 and any clean wearable bras of any size will be greatly appreciated!
