Police Hunt Youths Following Attempted Robbery
The incident happened on Tueday 12th November shortly before 9pm, as the lady was walking in Grange Street.
She was approached by three youths who tried to grab her bag. She managed to hold on to it but was pushed to the ground.
Although badly shocked, she was not seriously hurt. She was taken to hospital for checks and later allowed home.
Detective Inspector Stephen Burton of Trent Valley CID, said it was despicable attack on a vulnerable person.
"Robbery and attempted robbery are very serious offences and we would urge anyone with information about this incident to call us," he said.
The youths are said to be in their mid-teens and were wearing hooded tops.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area and may have seen three youths hanging around or anything suspicious, to contact CID at Burton, telephone 0300 123 44 55 or, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
Calls to Crimestoppers are free from all landlines and callers do not have to leave their name or give any information which may identify them
People giving information may be able to claim a reward for the arrest and conviction of offenders.
