Police to Fingerprint Burton Youngsters

Instead, youngsters will be able to take their 'prints' home on a special bookmark as a souvenir of their visit to Burton Police Station open day this Saturday, 23 August.

Families will be able to take a look behind the bars of a police cell and discover the secret passage which links the station to the neighbouring magistrates' court.

Visitors can also see a drugs dog in action, try on police uniforms, have a go at using a police style radio and meet the local neighbourhood officers who cover the Burton area.

"We are hoping for a really good turn out by local families who want to see behind the scenes at their local police station," said Burton Neighbourhood Policing Unit Commander, Inspector Jav Oomer.

"The open day is a great opportunity for people to talk over local issues with neighbourhood officers and pick up help and advice on crime reduction and how to stay safe," he added.

The open day is being held this Saturday, 23 August, at Burton Police Station in Horninglow Street, from 11am until 4pm.
