Equality Standard Achieved
The Service has achieved a Level 3 rating following the audit, which involved a large number of staff being interviewed and each department providing evidence of the Service's commitment to equality.
Strengths that were stated included: high level of commitment from the top, strong leadership from members, great amount of enthusiasm from the staff group, and strong community links.
Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford says, "This is an extremely significant achievement and reflects the huge amount of work that has been completed and our absolute commitment to equality, diversity and community engagement. It is something the Service can be justifiably proud of and is a great credit to all members of our organisation.
"We still have a lot of work to do to achieve our ultimate ambition of gaining the highest level of this Standard. However, our achievements to date are a clear indication that we are moving in the right direction and that our aspirations are well within our capabilities to achieve."
