Learners Hold Sponsored Reading Event for Charity

The group, who are following the College's literacy and numeracy programmes, were sponsored to read as many books as possible from the Quick Reads range of books for adults. The fundraising effort was organised as part of their studies, raising £300, which was split between the two charities.

Talking about the event Literacy Tutor Sara Redlaff said, "The students have really improved their reading skills and everyone enjoyed participating in the event. I am very impressed at how hard they worked and it is fantastic that they raised so much money for their chosen charities."

Course Leader Juliette Taylor added, "These programmes are designed for those adults who would like to improve their literacy and numeracy skills and as part of this we support people to improve their reading ability."

The College's Adult Literacy and Numeracy Programmes are for adult learners who would like to improve their basic literacy and/or numeracy skills. To find out more contact Juliette Taylor on 01283 494482 or visit the website at www.burton-college.ac.uk
