Students Visit Central Telecom
The students, who are studying for their BTEC First Diploma for ICT Practitioners at Burton College, were invited by the Directors of Central, based at Burton's Wetmore Road, to help with their Networking module. The Networking module assessment criteria is based on a real world networking environment, which enables the students to gain first hand experience of the benefits of well structured networks and how the features and services of various network technologies work.
The visit to Central allowed the students to meet Central employees and a series of presentations gave them a clear understanding of the company, its business and the technology sectors they work in. The students also gained information on Central's network and how it allowed the organization to share information between departments, providing its customers with the high level of service and support that has helped build Central's national reputation.
Talking about the visit Andrew McDougall, Managing Director at Central Telecom said, "I believe that as a leading UK communications company Central has a duty to support Burton College's work in the education and development of its students. Hosting this visit was a great opportunity for our Senior Managers to meet some of the local up and coming professionals of the future."
Fiona Turner, Course Leader First Diploma for ICT Practitioners added, "Central has welcomed our students and given them relevant and appropriate information on networking which will aid them students in their course work. I feel it is vital for students to experience a variety of business organisations as often as possible to see how the theory in the classroom relates to the real world."
