Staffordshire Council Provides Recycling Advice to Learners

Community Warden Lesley Hardware from the Council's Environment Services section, visited the learners, who have been attending English For Speakers Of Other Languages (ESOL) courses, at a variety of local community venues and the Lichfield Street Campus since September. The part time courses, which are run by the College, are specially designed to improve English language skills for those who do not have English as their first language.

Commenting on the talk, Course Leader Alison Hodgson said, "The British Citizenship lessons aim to provide advice and guidance about living in Britain today including local public services, the judicial system and individual rights and responsibilities. Home recycling is now an everyday part of life for many of us but it can be confusing and is something that some of our learners have not come across before. The Council's Environment Services section operates the county's recycling and refuse collection services including kerbside collections, local recycling facilities, home composting and compost bins so Lesley was able to provide a lot of useful advice and information, which will really help our learners with everyday life."

The part time ESOL courses, which are run by Burton College, are specially designed to improve English language skills for those who do not have English as their first language. To find out more information about ESOL classes, please call Alison Hodgson on 01283 494489.
