College Welcomes New Principal
Prior to this, Dawn was a Vice Principal at Warwickshire College and part of the executive team that took the College from good to outstanding, achieving Beacon status for employer engagement; a standing, which identifies and recognises the very best providers of the further education and skills sector.
A graduate from Oxford Brookes University, Dawn has had a successful international career, is a published author and was an active member of the UK team for World Skills Competitions. In 2007 she was awarded an OBE for her services to education and skills training. She is a champion for UKSKILLS and actively encourages and promotes the benefits of competitive skills to the local economy. In addition, she is a member of the national work force race advisory group and a mentor for the black leadership initiative.
Dawn is passionate about ensuring education, skills and training is available to everyone and works tirelessly to remove barriers to learning and in ensuring colleges are at the heart of their local communities. Talking about her appointment, she commented, "I am thrilled to be afforded the opportunity to build on the achievements that Keith Norris has delivered for Burton and its College. I am looking forward to working with the excellent team at the College to ensure we remain focused on playing a leading role in the economic, social and cultural development of Burton, whilst gaining a national profile and reputation for excellence."
Adrian Argyle, Chair of Governors added, "'Dawn is ideally qualified to lead the College onward and upward from its present strong base. We are delighted that she has accepted the post and look forward to her arrival."
