College Launches New Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy

The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy will offer those students who already have a recognised Level 2 qualification, the opportunity to develop their specialised skills and knowledge to an advanced level, whilst working in a commercial salon environment.

Commenting on the new course Curriculum Area Leader for Hairdressing and Beauty Catherine Gadsby said, "There has been widespread coverage recently of the Government's drive to increase the number of people taking apprenticeships, which provide the best of both worlds combining a mix of high quality College and on the job training. The College has a very successful apprenticeship programme ensuring that companies and small owner-managed businesses have access to highly skilled people across a wide range of trades. On the back of this we have introduced the new Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy. For the first time, people working in the Beauty and Spa Industry will have the opportunity to develop their skills whilst gaining valuable professional experience at the same time. People can choose to study what interests them the most, either following a general route covering head and body massage, electrical treatments and epilation or a massage route which includes head and body massage, Indian head massage and self tanning. Those on the course will be taught by staff with a wide range of experience in the industry and we will work together with you to find a suitable salon placement. The introduction of the course is an exciting opportunity for both beauty therapists and local employers alike. With no age restrictions it could also be ideal for those returning to work after a career break or for those who qualified some years ago and would like to update their skills."

The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy commences in September. One year long, successful applicants will attend Burton College one day a week on Mondays, from 9.00am until 6.00pm. For more information please contact Jackie Croxall on 01283 494510. Enquiries will also be welcome from employers interested in taking on an apprentice.
